Who are you? Tell us a little about yourself or something that would surprise us.
I love God and am truly grateful for my life. There was a time that I didn’t love life. He changed that. I am happily married to my beautiful wife Krystal. We are celebrating 13 years of marriage this year. She is an amazing woman. I have worked in the Oil and Gas Accounting profession for 20 years. I started practicing martial arts in 2003 and developed a love for it. I still practice and teach today. I enjoy woodworking and have slowly developed more skill in this area. I’m currently working on a Dutch style tool chest and hope to finish it soon. I have an ear for music and played guitar, piano and drums when I was a kid. I love to read and have built a small personal library that I really enjoy.
How long have you been a Behemoth member and how did you hear about us?
I started with Behemoth in the Summer of 2019. I used to drive by the gym a lot. On my birthday, I decided I needed to get healthier and reached out to Behemoth. I’m glad I did!
How has being apart of Behemoth impacted your life?
Being a part of Behemoth Gym has reestablished hope in me that I can accomplish more in my life. I hit a brick wall in my health and felt myself physically declining. Behemoth helped restored that hope.
Talk a little bit about your journey, who were you or what were you struggling with before starting with Behemoth and who are you now since being apart of this gym culture and community?
It’s amazing how people adapt to pain. I spent several years in constant pain in my knees, shoulder, and neck. I also had trouble sleeping and had very low energy. I had a pretty weak immune system and would get sick 3-4 times a year. I became proficient at ignoring these issues.
On my birthday, July, 28, 2019, I had just finished battling another attack on my immune system. I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. I decided that day to focus on my health and get back on track. When I came to Behemoth Gym, I couldn’t do an air squat without significant pain. I couldn’t lift my right arm up without pain due to an old injury. My body was a broken mess.
Today, I regularly complete weighted squats pain free. My shoulder is also pain free and significantly stronger than I thought possible. Many other aspects of my physical health have greatly improved. I haven’t been sick in over a year…during a world wide pandemic. Most importantly, I have energy to live my life to the fullest. Behemoth Gym has truly been a blessing to my life.
What is your favorite part about Behemoth and what keeps you coming back?
The coaching staff is awesome. Each coach demonstrates professionalism and compassion. Workouts are designed to be challenging and approachable for everyone, regardless of fitness level. The community is friendly and inviting. Behemoth Gym members are supportive and encouraging. Everyone has a sense of purpose and all of us are working toward that shared purpose to maximize our potential.
What is one piece of advice you’d give to someone just starting out with Behemoth or maybe hesitant in starting out?
I was a bit nervous when I first considered joining Behemoth Gym. I’m so glad I pushed passed all of that negative emotion and made the decision to better my health. It’s totally worth it!
