Meet Carrington, our I am BSHEmoth for the month of JUNE! Carrington just graduated high school and is a poster child for hard work, commitment and sacrifice, which is made evident by the progress she has made in her time with us.
Who are you? Tell us a little about yourself or something that would surprise us.
I am Canadian, but I have lived in the US for the vast majority of my life. I graduated Summa Cum Laude this year from Cy-Springs High School. I am not one hundred percent sure what I am doing in life, but I intend to stay active and continue CrossFit. I have played a lot of sports: Soccer, basketball, shot put and discus, volleyball, and competitive swimming. I have always loved competition but I unfortunately have always been on the heavier side, so I never really liked to put myself out there. I guess a weird fact is that I love forensics and crime shows and I aspire to be a forensic pathologist.
How were you introduced to Behemoth?
I found out what CrossFit was on Pintrest and I started to watch videos of the past Games and decided that was what I wanted to do. A couple of years passed by and I got my job and then I could afford to join so I googled local boxes and came across Behemoth. The box had great reviews so I decided to come in.
What are you most proud of, physically, mentally or both since beginning with us?
Overall I think I am most proud of my improvement. I am proud that I can clean a 100# slam ball, that I can run a mile under 8 minutes, and that I can complete a thruster at 110#...even if it was only once. I think I have become mentally tougher in a way that I could never have ever imagined. I just keep thinking “one more rep” and that kind of thinking helps a lot in life.
Why Behemoth?
I have had a lot of coaches throughout my sport hopping, but they’ve never cared so much before. The coaches and other members care, they chat with you and cheer you on. The Box is a family, it pushes me to be better and I cannot ask for anything more.
-What next? What are you excited about pursuing here in the future?
I am not sure…I hope I continue to grow and scale up my movements. I hope to compete more and help others push through a tough workout. College is going to be weird and I am going to have to join a new box, I am going to miss everyone so much! “3, 2, 1…Go” Mad Lib section
Favorite lift: The Snatch
Most frequent class: 7 PM
I have always wanted to… Sky dive, maybe that is common, but I love roller coasters and the little bit of thrill you get on the falls and I can only imagine how amazing it must be to jump from a plane.
When I’m not crushing weights, my favorite thing to do is… Watch Netflix or walk around the grocery store…that’s weird, but I do love to night time grocery shopping.
Favorite application of fitness… Carrying trays at work and literally doing waiter walks.
Favorite Pandora station… It changes frequently because my music taste fluctuates, but right now it is between Marilyn Manson and maybe…Chelsea Grin?
Beast mode engaged when this song comes on… Avidus or American Dream by Chelsea Grin (PLEASE do NOT look those songs up lol, they are not enjoyable to most.)
