Who are you? Tell us a little about yourself or something that would surprise us.
I am a native Houstonian. I live in Towne Lake and I am very happily married. I have a terrific daughter and son-in-law, 2 absolutely perfect grandchildren and I own a small oil & gas business (we won’t talk about how that is going right now). I am a workaholic so when I am not working out, I can usually be found working in my office. I am organized to a fault (all the food in the pantry has labels facing the same direction-my husband just shakes his head). I love being on the water or in our backyard and I love hanging out with our friends / neighbors, hosting parties and taking vacations! I hope to someday travel to as many places as possible in this world.
My passion for exercise started when I was very young. I started dancing when I was 3 years old (ballet, tap and jazz). I started taking and working at Jazzercise many years ago and although I don’t work there anymore, I still take it and enjoy it because it allows me to fulfill my desire to dance. Now I am proud to say I have been doing Crossfit 3 times per week for over 2 years. My plan is to continue exercising my body until I am very old. It is my passion.
How and when were you introduced to Behemoth?
I was familiar with Crossfit due to a friend and when my Dad passed away 2 years ago, I was left with spare time. He was always very supportive of my exercising so I guess you could say I started because I knew my Dad would have been happy to see me take my passion for exercising to the next level.
What are you most proud of, physically, mentally or both since beginning with us?
I am proud that I am stronger and healthier now than I have ever been in my life, yet I am a little older than the average BSHemoth. 😊 I have an endless amount of energy, thanks to Crossfit and I feel like the coaches at Behemoth have taught me how important it is to focus on the “mental” aspect of it and how that helps to get through a challenging workout. (I want to give credit to some of my 9:30 am friends that have helped me focus on being mentally strong, also! You know who you are!) I am also proud that I can say I am an “athlete”, but I would have to say I am MOST proud of the fact that I feel like I recover quickly after a tough workout. Thank you for that!
What has been your biggest, yet most rewarding obstacle to overcome, whether in the gym or on your health journey to date?
It gives me a sense of success to know I can I read about our upcoming workouts and no longer be afraid of how tough it sounds. I know I can do it!
Why Behemoth?
Initially, I called Behemoth because of the proximity to my house. I met with Aryan and immediately knew this is where I wanted to be. I really believe the coaches care about every one of us. They help us focus on our diet and making good life choices, as well as our workouts. I also love my 9:30 am fellow athletes. Everyone encourages everyone else. That is such a good feeling, not to mention they are now my personal friends!
What next? What are you excited about pursuing here in the future?
I am a small person so lifting heavy weight is not my goal. My goal is to become more proficient at all the movements. My next goals are to master handstand pushups and double unders! RX’s here and there would be nice also!
