Who are you? Tell us a little about yourself or something that would surprise us.
I’m just a Montana farm girl living my best life in Texas! Myhusband and I moved here almost two years ago with our two little girls fromWisconsin. We are so happy to be out of the snow and into more sunshine! Myhusband and I first met in college at Montana State and I had finished mymasters degree with plans to be a teacher but when the girls came along Idecided to live the stay at home mom life. I also have a small online boutiqueI run out of our home and, of course, Behemoth is my favorite hobby.
How and when were you introduced to Behemoth?
Well this is definitely one of those “small world” kind of stories. While in Wisconsin I was pregnant with our second daughter, Gretchen. I was going to do a home birth and had picked out an amazing doula to help me have the best natural birth experience possible. As it happened, Erica, my doula, is the BIRTHFIT Wisconsin Regional Director and I had taken her BIRTHFIT Prenatal Series. We knew before Gretchen’s birth that we would be moving to Houston shortly after she arrived (we ended up moving 9 days later!) and Erica knew I wanted to continue my BF journey so she told me about this amazing woman named Leah, who happened to be a BIRTHFIT Houston Regional Director AND part owner of a CrossFit gym. I had done CrossFit up until Gretchen was born, so finding a BF coach and a new gym was perfect! Also by complete chance, we bought a house in the same area! So once we moved to Cypress I made sure to contact Leah and completed her BF Postpartum Series to help me recover and heal post baby. Once I felt the girls had a good sleep schedule I made my way back to Behemoth for the group classes and the rest is history!
What are you most proud of, physically, mentally or both since beginning with us?
Physically, I can say that I am in the best shape of my life! Ididn’t even feel this good when I was in my teens and twenties and I knowthat’s because of the programing along with the nutrition and supplementsupport that Behemoth provides. Mentally, I am feeling more and more confidentin my abilities and can recognize just how much more I am capable of. I havebeen able to break through several mental barriers and I am so grateful forthat.
What has been your biggest, yet most rewarding obstacle to overcome, whether in the gym or on your health journey to date?
Finally competing in the Open has been so huge for me! I havebeen doing CrossFit for three years but this was the first time that I wasn’tpregnant or missing it after recently having a baby. I have always wanted tocompete and I have a fairly competitive nature so these Open workouts have beensuch a rewarding experience to see how far I have come, what I can achieve andwhat more I still need to work on.
Why Behemoth?
It was just a natural fit. I had the established connection with Leah through BIRTHFIT and once I met Aja, Aryan and other members I knew this was where I needed to be. There are several other CrossFit gyms much closer to our house but I know none of them would have the level of experience of the coaches at Behemoth. For me that was number one and the reason why I decided to come back to Behemoth once I could finally reenter group classes.
What next? What are you excited about pursuing here in the future?
Double unders and pull ups! Basically anything that has to dowith gymnastics. Oh and I have a goal to deadlift 200lbs so I need to get onthat before we grow our family!
